Monday afternoon's USDA crop progress and condition report showed modest deterioration of the nation's corn, soybean and wheat crops, largely due to excessive rains. Yet, corn and soybean ratings remain near the long-term average for this time of year. Commodity Weather Group expects these subjective crop ratings to remain relatively good through July due to a generally favorable weather pattern, but is concerned that heat and dryness issues may develop in the western Midwest in August when late corn is pollinating and soybeans are setting and filling pods.
