Weekly Crop Conditions Report

E.C. IOWA: Received  just under an 1” of rain last night. First rain since august 26th. That has ben the pattern since august 4th (about 10-12 days apart). Once again I think we took a little more off of what we had. Temps have been in the upper 80’s to low 90’’s for the last week or so. Corn is from corn on corn field, grabbed random ears in the dark. 3/4 milkline to just about black layered. Beans are just starting to turn. Beans in picture were picked from outside edge of field. 20 and 30 pods per plant. Beans look like lima beans so I hope the rain will pump up what we have.

OK. after reading your post, I would like to make a suggestion for next year............can you line up a bus for us over hear along the river so that we have a designated driver? LOL.

On another note, went to farm progress show wednesday, then Des Moines Thursday and Friday for meetings. My unofficial opinion is that the worst crops were around Dewitt, Iowa. Go 7 or so miles north on Highway 61 there is a small sliver on the Clinton/Jackson county line that may be one of the best spots in the state. They received 6+ inches from the 29th of June-August 1.

2 combines were running on Interstate 80. Heard a report of some corn by Manchester that did 9 bu./acre in a 30 acre field (no other details).
