From Bryan Bayness- Fayette County, IA
Pioneer 92y51. Southern Fayette County. Looks good for having 1/2 of an inch in July!! For what it's worth, 78 pods. Some I couldnt get in the picture. Might be the year for some bb's beans. One pass round up. I should have spreyed for spider mites:-\

Weekly Crop Conditions Report
East Centeral Iowa: I totally agree with just about everyone... that you could drive 10-20 miles from your house and see 0 to 180+ bu/acre corn. Beans as usual are hard to judge, like one of my seed dealers told me ..... final population, row spacing and seed size will make or break you as far as final yield. Finally got some rain at my house August 16th, 8/10". Within 10 miles rain ranged from 1/4" to 1.5". First rain since Aug 4th (alot of damage has already been done since July 4th) no surprise, as this has been the pattern all year. Could be better, and it could be worse!

Crop Tour '12 Questions
My name is Ashley Sherrets and I am the Ag/ Hort Program Coordinator for the Buchanan County ISU Extension Office. The 2012 Crop Tour was brought to our attention recently and my Extension Administrator and I were wondering if it would be beneficial for one of us to attend. We are unaware about what this day consists of, what the agenda is, and if there is a cost. Could you please send more information about the Crop Tour to my email address? I appreciate your help.

Ashley,
We'd love to have you attend! The day will consist of a Crop Tour/ Yield Check throughout Buchanan County starting at 8 AM from the Henderson Event Center. This will continue all day with a minimum of 4 groups covering the area.
At 5 PM the evening of August 24th, a social hour will begin, followed by a meal, presentation of the day's findings, round-table discussion from participants and entertainment by country music singer- Scott Shelby.
Our sponsors will have tables set up throughout the event center showcasing their businesses. We could reserve you a table if there is a event or workshop your would like to promote. Cost is Free for extension.
The day is designed to be a fun event for farmers and agribusiness folks to gather, network, and learn a little bit about our crop. Check out more at www.newscoffeeshop.com\
Give me a call if you would like to discuss further or set up a display table.
Thanks,
Pete
